Hi! I recently took a course on the basics of 2D graphics from Redby Art, I want to share my impressions.

The course runs for two weeks. Lectures for both weeks are given at once, as well as homework, and then once a week there is a general call with the curator and analysis of works. At the same time, you can write to the supervisor during working hours and ask for advice when something is unclear (I did so :)). Many thanks to Alexandra for her patience, for detailed analysis and feedback, for chatting and answering questions about the industry at the end of the second call. It was very cool and lammy :).

I liked the fact that the lectures consistently explain the basics of working with Photoshop, and then just as step-by-step to understand the casual rendering of a simple duck. I'm not a beginner in drawing, but I watched the first lectures anyway, hoping to catch some useful tricks. And my hopes were justified, I learned a couple of things. As for rendering - I like that they explain how to choose colors, how to make it so that there were clean shadows, soft tone transitions in shape and bright color.

What could be improved - give a little more theory about tone matching. The very “the tone of an object's shadow is halfway between the object's own tone and black.” :) But you can get by with the information in the course. It just helped that I knew a bit more.

Overall, I enjoyed the course, looking forward to the continuation in the form of the environment. Way to go!
